Mutěnice Ponds

Mutěnice is a significant nesting site of waterfowl with the largest colony of Black headed gulls (Chroicocephalus ridibundus) in South Moravia, which is currently on the pond Zbrod. In the northern ponds, Bažatnice, there is the only regular nesting place for storks in the Czech Republic. Other regular nesting species include; Little bittern (Ixobrychus minutus), Marsh harrier (Circus aeruginosus), Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica), Little crake (Porzana parva) and Great bittern (Botaurus stellaris).
